This week threw us a couple punches and a nice midweek treat with National Cuban Sandwich Day. So it’s only natural we continue with these two themes as we head into the weekend. Miami, get ready to rumble with unlimited croquetas and a knock-out Saturday that will go down in history as one of the biggest fight nights, like, ever.
Our daily protein bars–Croquetas–are getting all our attention this Friday and we’re totally into it. Miami’s original food blog pioneer, the Burger Beast, is hosting Croquetapalooza in honor of National Croqueta Month with 20 restaurants competing for the coveted best croqueta award. Tickets to this Cuban-themed foodie event get you unlimited croqueta tastings, front row seats (if you get there early enough) to the ultimate Frita Showdown and delicious dessert samples. Not all of us are technically Cuban, but living in Miami means you are basically obsessed with this thing that us girls like to refer to as a “croquetica.”

Wynwood Beer Festival
Craft beer is having a major moment right now and we’d like to raise our mugs to that. This Saturday afternoon, you can catch us at the Wynwood Beer Festival, where we’ll be sampling 150 different brewskies made by local favorites like Concrete Beach, JDub’s Brewing, M.I.A. Beer Company and more. We’d say this is a great pre-game opportunity before heading into the main event.

Mayweather vs. McGregor Watch Party
Rumor has it the fight of the year is happening this Saturday–and no, we aren’t talking about Kanye West vs Talyor Swift. Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will be fighting it out in the ring, and if you’re confused why everyone’s going apeshit about it, we’ve got the dish on why you should care.
Round 1: Mayweather has a record of 49-0…aka he has NEVER lost, and he retired from the sport as the unofficial best boxer in the world. But the champ decided that $100 million is enough to get back in the game and square up against McGregor.
Round 2: McGregor is a champion MMA fighter…not a trained boxer. So this fight might get a little cray.
Round 3: McGregor doesn’t have much to lose. If he gets KO’ed, he can ultimately say he fought the greatest boxer of all time. And if he wins, he’ll go home an extra $75 mill richer.
Who are you rooting for? The underdog or the champion? Now that you know why this is a Big Deal, check out these spots that are hosting watch parties. And if you still DGAF, hey, at least you can drink.

Plomo Tequila & Taco Bar Weekend Brunch
With the big fight going down on Saturday, we can already predict you’re going to wake up Sunday feeling like you got punched in the face. And we all know the best way to soothe the ache is to keep the party going. Our suggestion? Opt for Mexican brunch at the new Plomo Tequila & Taco Bar. With more than 65 tequilas and mezcals, the DJ won’t be the only one spinning at this fiesta. Indulge in some traditional dishes like eggs Benedict or kick it up a notch with the flauta dish. If you’re really feeling spicy, don’t miss out on the Plomazo, a mix of jalapeño tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice and a whole lotta other stuff!
